This cottage style cottage tour is a simple yet welcoming look to try in your home. I give tips on how to decorate our house for the summer, which is the garden style decor. I use patriotic / Americana elements, green spaces, and other personal details with framed artwork and photos. I hope this trip will inspire you to create a beautiful summer look in your own home.

Farmhouse style summer house tour
Hello friends! I am so glad you are here! If you come from my friend Chelsea at Two Twenty One you are very welcome! Isn’t your journey home so wonderful? This trip home takes my friend Krista to The Happy Housie. This week, a total of 30 bloggers are sharing their summer excursions as part of the Seasonal Simplicity series. Thank you Krista for hosting such a great blog hop full of inspiration!
I start this cottage-style summer house excursion right here on our doorstep. I already had these layered mats and loved the dark blue color for summer. You can find these layered mats and other neutral options here. By adding the dragon wing’s red begonias, I created an all-round red, white, and blue look. I just love it. By the way, these types of begonias are good for those who may not have the greenest thumb (like me, haha!), And they get really big. Love her!
To top off the summer feel, and with July 4th just around the corner, I added some great USA flags from the dollar tree to each planter. Speaking of plants, my husband made these amazing cross and cross plants and we have a full tutorial on how to do them HERE!
When you step on our front door, this is a view of our entrance / foyer area. Our house is an open concept, so on your left is our living room. It was important to me to have a foyer area, also with an open house, so adding a rug, bench, and other elements to this space added to defining it as a separate “room”.
You may notice that I’ve also added some patriotic details here in my pots with smaller flags as well as this fake fern that you can find here. Faux greenery is a big part of how I change my decor seasonally. It’s budget friendly and the plants / green spaces in your home are a modern farmhouse style.
